When You Don’t Believe in Yourself

Whether you believe in yourself or not, and whether or not you believe in your dreams, wasn’t there a time when you needed a little nudge? Maybe a coworker or an uncle or a stranger told you what you needed to hear. Maybe they helped you by doing something for you that you didn’t expect or that you felt you didn’t deserve.

Today’s letter of gratitude goes to the person who sees beyond your limitations. This letter is for the person who sees past your insecurities, your flaws, and your fears.

Maybe this is the person who goes the extra mile to help you out.

This letter is for the person who defended you in the crowd, who gave you the opportunity you wanted, or who is like a guardian angel.

This is not to say that you should depend on others to feel valued or confident in your aspirations.

Think of the last time you gave someone that nudge. From the newbie to the student, from the distressed to the person who was ungrateful. Haven’t we all helped someone one out, and, without knowing so, helped them at a time when that person needed our help the most?

This letter is for the person who believed in you at the right time and at the right place. They may or may not even know how much their words or actions meant to you. Because they believed in you, you did not give up, and you kept moving forward.
