As some of you already know, I moved out of state recently. This move is resulting in a lot of inner and outer change.
For example, I’ve been feeling way more independent. I’ve also been learning my way around the city and trying to make home feel “homey”.
It’s a much needed change that I’d dreamed of for years, but moving out of state was never a necessary thing. It was a choice I made out of curiosity and intuition.
It felt and still feels like I’m taking a chance. I’m giving it a try to see if it works out for me because, truth be told, I sometimes feel homesick.
If you’re in a place in your life in which you need a nudge to help you take a chance like I did when I was weighing in the pros and cons of moving, today’s blog post includes 5 reasons to take a chance. May they help you as you make any life decision(s) that you’re curious about making.
1. You’ll learn something new
Like learning the names of streets after moving to a new town or city, when you take a chance, you give yourself opportunities to learn and experience new things. You meet new people. You learn new ways of doing things.
Taking a chance can feel out of your comfort zone. It feels that way because you’re surrounding yourself with new experiences and saying yes to opportunities you’d never had before.
2. You won’t feel regret
When you feel that it’s time to step out of your comfort zone, time for change, or time to take a chance, and you decide to go for change, you won’t feel regret.
You tried what you wanted to try. A dream took root inside of you, and you gave it space for it to become a reality. Remember that you can always go back to the way things were if things don’t go as planned.
3. You’re always in the right place at the right time
Sometimes you feel a pull to be at a certain place at a certain time in your life. In this way, your presence is where it is needed the most. In this way, you also grow in the perfect circumstances and challenges meant for your growth. Inner growth takes different forms such as strengthening your leadership skills or experiencing renewed faith or believing in the value of your talents.
4. You gain a new perspective
Sometimes you need a new perspective to see things differently. Welcoming change into your life gives you a new perspective. You see your old life or your old self from a higher place. For example, what you thought you were incapable of doing or achieving, you learn that you can achieve.
5. You experience inner growth
When you take a chance, you lose things in your life, but you also make space for new things.
You let go of qualities you thought defined you and make space for the qualities you thought you didn’t have such as planning or persuasive skills.
Taking a chance can feel scary if it’s out of your comfort zone, but it’s rewarding. Taking a chance takes away the what if’s, and leaves you with a blank canvas to create your heart’s desires and to edit as you go. You are free take a different direction any time you want.
