3 quotes to give you strength to face the day

It happens to all of us. There are days when you don’t feel like your chirpy self. Your perspective of the world feels out of balance. Or you seem to notice mostly the negative things about everything.

It’s totally normal to feel that way. It’s during these times that we need a bit of extra motivation to help us get things done. If you’re looking for motivation to get through the day, today’s post is a round up of 3 quotes to give you strength to face the day.

1. You are enough

Driving back from the library a few weeks ago, I heard a song on the radio that became a favorite. Has this ever happened to you? You’re shopping or listening to an advertisement, and you hear a new song that later becomes a favorite?

Here’s a snippet of the song:

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing / You say I’m strong when I think I am weak / And You say I am held when I am falling short…

from “You Say” by Lauren Daigle

I found out that the song is called β€œYou Say” by Lauren Daigle who is a Christian music singer. This song is really beautiful and a good reminder of your self worth and of finding strength in God to help you overcome your problems when you’re feeling weak.

2. You are powerful

There’s a quote by Marianne Williamson that I keep copying into every new journal I start. The quote is quite long, but so worth it to keep at hand as a reminder of your inner strength.

β€œOur deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us…Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.”

from the quote “Our deepest fear” by Marianne Williamson

When Marianne talks about this shine, this light, I believe that she is talking about all of the things that make you who you are: your talents, your dreams, your voice, your style, and your signature qualities that make you you. Marianne believes you should embrace your strengths because that’s how you best make your mark on the world.

3. You are strong

β€œNo matter how much we’ve accomplished, we still feel inadequate, unprepared. It’s not surprising. Many of our greatest moments we experience are moments we cannot adequately prepare for, the birth of a child, the death of a loved one.”

from The Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan

In other words, this quote means that no matter how much you do to improve yourself or prepare for the future, there will be days when you may not feel adequately prepared for something.

You may feel like don’t have the experience, the credentials, the status or the money. You may feel like you’re not ready to take the next step. You may not feel prepared or adequate.

Regardless, you have strength to take the next step. You have the strength to help you overcome the problems in your path.

These quotes were created by people who know what it’s like to need that extra motivation to start the day, to find the confidence to start a difficult conversation, or to help them during a time of grief. May these quotes be the encouragement, support, and reminder that you are going to make it through!

    • yes, you’re so right on how we can lose opportunities to achieve the longer we wait because of the fear. what has helped me when I don’t believe in myself is doing things despite feeling the fear, just doing things anyway πŸ™‚ learning as we go

  1. I love the quote by Marianne Williamson. When I first heard it, it was like she put into words what was in my heart and mind. I love the line about playing small not serving anyone. It took me a long time to realize that. Thanks for this inspirational post!

  2. I wrote a post this past month to the exact same effect as your 3rd quote – sometimes things take you by surprise no matter how much you prepare.
I really like the 2nd quote. I’ve never heard it. Interesting. Thank you.

  3. Thank you for writing this post, I really needed to hear the words you were saying. And I love that song so much it really picks me up when I am down or reach my limit. These are very insightful points and having me gain more strength to carry out my day after reading them. Thanks so much for the motivation.
