Your Precious Life

“Tell me, what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?,” Mary Oliver wrote. She did not offer a suggestion of the perfect life plan. What you do with your life is up to you. However different our answers are to that question, Oliver knew that our days on earth are not only numbered but precious. You become so busy and worried about the next problem to tackle or the failure to get back up from. It’s easy to forget that life is indeed precious. It’s easy to become hopeless and restless because you work hard and you try again. Only to find that you need to work harder and keep trying. It all seems like an endless loop. You have the problem-solving skills and determination to face your problems and failures. You are courageous, and you give life your best effort. And before you know it, you experience the results of your efforts. And no matter how much you plan for your life, there’s always something unexpected that arrives. …

motivation to end (the year, a project, a cycle) on a good note

In connection to this topic of self-worth, I want to share some insight I got from watching a YouTube video called “Texting Your Crush (Inside Juanpa Ep. 1)”. It reminded me of the movie Inside Out which focuses on the emotions of joy, fear, anger, disgust, and sadness and how these affect our lives. In the video, Boss, Flirty, Sensitive, Cool, Cold-heart, and Intern Juanpas exist in the mind of human Juanpa. Juanpa takes us inside his head to show the internal process of texting a crush. (Note: Juanpa Zurita is a Mexican Youtuber known for vlogging and comedy skits.) Insecure Juanpa stood out to me because he reminded me of my insecure self. When he gets a text from Lele his crush, Insecure Juanpa says, “We don’t deserve this girl or this opportunity.” Throughout the video the negativity …
