Dream Travels

Airplanes always seemed magical to me. When I looked at them up in the sky, I wished I was inside one on my way to a magical place and adventure.

Being up there next to the clouds, the sunrise, or stars makes the trip feel magical. Arriving to your destination in less time than it would have taken during a car ride makes the trip feel magical.

Crossing paths with so many people in the airport who have different places to go and different reason to travel adds the qualities of mystery and curiosity to traveling.

My mom often tells me how growing up, she never had dreams of traveling around the world, something my grandparents, her parents, also never did other than traveling within Mexico.

Through social media and Youtube, I’ve learned about different countries and places. Although I’m not fan of the cold at all, I’m left awestruck with places in Canada because of the beauty of its nature.

Because of the hype, I’m also curious about landmarks and countries in Europe. There are so many options around the world to choose from for traveling adventures

One of the places I’d like to visit is Vienna, Austria. I was left with a curiosity of visiting Vienna because my university had an internship option there that I couldn’t afford.

In my research, I found out that Vienna is known for a chocolate cake called Sacher Torte, the gardens around Schonbrunn Palace, and music.

Every place, every country has a beautiful experience to offer us. We’re surrounding by experiences we might not be surrounded with on a daily basis. And we create new memories that inspire us to continue dreaming of and planning for new traveling adventures.

Out of all of the places in the world, if you had to choose one to travel to, which one would it be?

Join me as I answer the 11 questions and nominate blogs for the Sunshine Blogger award.

Julie’s Questions:

1. What is the best present you ever received? One of the most memorable childhood presents were from one of my elementary best friends. She once visited a National Park in California and brought me a box of rocks. I thought it was sweet of her to bring a part of the park to share with me since I’d never visited a national park. When I moved out of state a few years later she also gifted me a beta fish.

Both of these presents are memorable because my parents laughed when I showed them the rocks. The beta fish died on our car trip to our new home, and this hurt me so much. Our van did not have air conditioner, and we were traveling during warm weather. I still regret not taking better care of the fish like refilling its water with cold water..

2. What are three small sources of joy for you? Flowers or floral-themed things, chocolate 😊, and music

3. Where is the last place you traveled and why? The last place I traveled to was Mexico almost one year ago. I visited my grandfather with my mom because he was very ill. He’s doing so much better now!

4. Where is your dream vacation? I have so many dream vacations! I would really love to go to Europe to visit all of the places that sound cliche to visit (I’ve never been there), to visit countries like France, Austria, Italy, and Spain.

5. What did you want to be when you were little? I wanted to be a teacher, and I’m now a middle-school English Language Arts teacher.

6. When did you feel that what you said or what you did really resonated with your soul? I feel like blogging really resonates with my soul. As I try to become more purposeful with blogging, I feel like with every blog post that I write, I try to make it as true to myself as possible.

I love writing as a way to express myself, as a way of art, and so keeping the blog updated is always a way for me to share any positive energy or advice. When I follow the writing passion, I feel like I lead by example and hope others are inspired to be passionate about their own writing practices and projects.

7. What are you afraid of or what fear have you overcome? I’m sometimes afraid of dying before writing the book I’ve always wanted to write. I’m haunted by writers and artist who died too young. I’ve always wondered if there was more creative goodness they could have shared with the world and with generations to come.

8. What is one of your favorite books? The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

9. What is your favorite type of cuisine? I love food that’s delicious and to my taste and don’t have a favorite cuisine.

10. What is one of your favorite songs? So many to choose from! One of my favorite songs that I always go back to is “Everywhere I go” by Lissie. There’s a version of it featuring Ellie Goulding and a cover by Sleeping at Last.

11. What is one of your favorite movies? Once again, I have many. One of my favorite Christmas romantic comedies is “While You Were Sleeping”. Sandra Bullock stars in it.

The Feeling of Adventure

I am in awe of airplanes. I went to my city’s airport twice this year before it was my turn to get on a plane to travel. I was left with this craving to watch planes land and take off as I saw them, then, through morning gold light and tall window panes. I still crave that image despite my recent trip to Mexico.

This post isn’t about Mexico’s food or its landmarks. It’s about a wisdom I bring back from there.  (I brought back wisdom to munch on for the rest of the year.) What I want to talk about is the feeling of adventure. (For context, you should know, that I was visiting family.) And even though I wasn’t a tourist, I still felt this sense of adventure.
